About the book: 1989 / “Dialogue with Chatsky” - this is the title of one of the essays in the collection. The leitmotif of the entire book is definitely found here. The facets of the topic are varied. Sometimes the earliest stage is more interesting - in a long-term and difficult dialogue with reading Russia, both “Dead Souls” and “The Past and Thoughts” were created. And echoes of the image of “Poor Liza” can be traced almost two centuries later, in all the Lizavetas of Russian, and partly Soviet, literature. There is a polyphonic chorus of responses to “Who Lives Well in Rus'.” The reflections of the “Queen of Spades” in Russian culture are innumerable and contradictory. Milestones of more than a century of War and Peace history are marked. And sometimes the most interesting is today’s dialogue - a new, unexpected interpretation of “A Hero of Our Time”, a modern reading of “The Brothers Karamazov” show the inexhaustibility of the great masterpieces of Russian literature.
