About the book: 2017 / The monograph studies the pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary legislation of Russia, the legislation of a number of foreign countries, including the former socialist space. The types of punishments that could be imposed for committing crimes at different stages of the development of the Russian state, as well as those existing abroad, are considered. The formation of the punishment system in its modern understanding is studied, the trends in the construction of a system of criminal punishments in the history of Russia and in foreign criminal legislation are traced. The author makes specific recommendations regarding the possible use of historical and foreign experience in further improving the Russian system of criminal penalties.
