About the book: 2007 / Jiro OSARAGI (1897–1973), real name Kiyohiko NOJIRI, is widely known in Japanese and world literature for his historical novels, documentary stories and plays, for which he was awarded prestigious literary prizes. The novel “Return” is the story of forced emigration, long wanderings around the world and the return to post-war Japan of the main character (Kyogo Moriya), who called himself “a Jew without a homeland.” Colorfully depicted national characters, topical moral conflicts, as well as the use of traditional techniques of kabuki plays - all this brings special artistic magic to the plot outline of the book. ...Someone entered the next room of his hotel room, and, thinking that it was the maid who had come to make up his bed, Kyogo didn’t even turn his head.
