About the book: 2016 / In his memoirs, General Max Hoffmann, one of the highest German military leaders of the period 1914–1918, analyzes the reasons for Germany’s defeat in the First World War. The most interesting pages of the book are detailed memories of the participation of Germany and Great Britain in the preparation of the revolution in Russia. Hoffmann played a major role in concluding the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with the Bolsheviks. For the sake of this world, he created entire states. “In reality, Ukraine is the work of my hands, and not at all the creation of the conscious will of the Russian people. No one else, like me, created Ukraine in order to be able to make peace with at least one part of Russia...” - he said in an interview. In Russia, the book was published in a limited edition in 1925. It was subsequently removed from libraries and placed in a special storage facility. It has not been republished since then. The preface to the book, reflecting the spirit of its time, was written by the famous Soviet historian Vladimir Gurko-Kryazhin.
