About the book: 2021 / February 28, 1921 in Kronstadt, thousands of sailors and workers opposed the communist government. They demanded the return of civil liberties, recognition of political parties, and holding new elections to the Soviets. In the hands of the rebels there were 2 battleships, up to 140 coastal defense guns, and over 100 machine guns. The Bolsheviks took emergency and brutal measures to eliminate the Kronstadt rebellion. Army units under the command of the future Marshal M.N. Tukhachevsky were sent to the walls of the fortress. After the second assault on the bastions, by the morning of March 18, the rebellion in Kronstadt was suppressed. More than 2,000 people were shot without trial, more than 6,000 were exiled to Solovki. Based on numerous documents and memories of participants in the events, the book by fleet historian V.V. Shigin tells about one of the tragic pages of our history.
