About the book: 2022 / Mitochondria are the small guardians of cellular individuality. They are the ones who largely determine how we will live: brightly and quickly or boringly but for a long time. But mitochondria are only one of the possible key elements of evolution. For successful development, biological objects need an inherent mechanism of self-destruction (somewhat similar to the Japanese ritual suicide - seppuku), constant contact with parasites and the presence of imperfections. And this all contradicts the goals of the health of an individual organism. This is the main paradox of evolution: in order to survive, we need constant obstacles and... sacrifices.
