About the book: 2017 / Monograph by Professor of the London College of Fashion Agnès Rocamora "Dressing the City: Paris, Fashion and Media" is devoted to the analysis of the main methods of representation Paris in the fashion press, which, like numerous paintings, novels and films about the French capital, glorifies this city, maintaining its mythical status, in particular as the capital of fashion. Based on publications in newspapers and magazines, the author reveals the processes of constructing the “Parisian myth” and its significance in fashionable geography. A special place in the book is devoted to consideration of the cultural types of “Parisian woman” and “passer-by”, as well as the image of the Eiffel Tower, which is often featured in the press as a backdrop for fashion shoots.
