About the book: 2022 / The need has long been overdue to bring together Egor’s direct speech, his numerous interviews, monologues, conversations with friends, letters and to give the opportunity to see him speaking exclusively in his own words, without detailed reviews, meticulous analysis and critical reviews, perhaps with a few explanatory comments. In English-language practice there is such a form - “... in his words,” which, in fact, means: “in your own words.” Well, in the case of Letov, this is doubly valuable - this is someone who really used the word as another weapon, a means of conveying to the world what he lived by, what interested and worried him. In a sense, this is the only possible attempt to compensate for the books of dialogues and conversations with Yegor that never took place, which he was asked to do during his lifetime. In the collection, covering the period from 1986 to 1997, you can see cult texts that influenced entire generations of readers and listeners, policy statements, and sharp rhetoric - all that formed parts of a single whole, or, as Yegor himself said, “ great multitude." There are also little-known interviews, extended concert monologues, letters, photographs, autographs and illustrations. It all looks like a kaleidoscope with endless new combinations. The contradictory and at the same time amazingly integral personality of Yegor Letov continues to arouse undying interest. (Alexey Koblov)
