About the book: 2007 / This book is devoted to the study of the perception of disasters and mysterious natural phenomena in the Middle Ages. At the courts of rulers there were specialized groups of astrologers, whose duties included launching scenarios for restoring collective mental balance disturbed by disasters. Sometimes astrologers did exactly the opposite. In military magic, the well-known practices of causing rain and snowstorms were used. They were accepted by the majority and subject to criticism from the minority.
