About the book: 2017 / The proposed book, which is the completion of many years of research by the author, is not another history of Russia. This is precisely the history of the Russian nation. Therefore, the reader who is thinking of gleaning here basic information about the Russian past is better off turning to other works, since there are many of them. Judging by the electronic catalog of the Russian State Library, there is not a single book in Russian with the title “History of the Russian Nation.” At first glance, this seems an annoying absurdity, another sad illustration of Pushkin: “We are lazy and incurious.” In fact, behind this fact lies the very logic of Russian history. For it is no coincidence that Russian historiography prefers to describe the history of the Russian state rather than the history of the Russian people.
