About the book: 1958 / MAMIN, Dmitry Narkisovich, pseudonym - D. Sibiryak (known as D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak) (25.Х(6 .XI).1852, Visimo-Shaitansky plant, Verkhoturye district, Perm province - 2(15).XI.1912, St. Petersburg) - prose writer, playwright. Born into the family of a factory priest. From 1866 to 1868 he studied at the Yekaterinburg Theological School, and then until 1872 at the Perm Theological Seminary. In 1872 M. went to St. Petersburg, where he entered the veterinary department of the Medical-Surgical Academy. In search of income, he became a reporter in 1874, delivering reports on meetings of scientific societies to newspapers. In 1876, without completing a course at the academy, M. entered the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University, but a year later due to illness he was forced to return to Ural, where he lives, mostly in Yekaterinburg, until 1891, earning money through private lessons and literary work. In 1891 M. moved to St. Petersburg. Here, as well as in Tsarskoe Selo near St. Petersburg, he lived until his death.
