About the book: 2017 / The fantastic detective story "The Gate Effect" is a finalist of the national award "Russian rhymes, Russian word", 2019. The novel takes place in the present day, however the world is different from the one we are used to. Four years ago, a Gate appeared on Earth leading to other planets. People had not yet gotten used to the world turned upside down, when a new shock occurred - a super-volcano erupted on one of the neighboring planets. A crowd of refugees poured onto Earth. People are trying their best to help their new neighbors, but the Earth cannot cope and asks for help from the interplanetary community. To resolve the issue, an emergency summit is held on the planet Goska, during which one of the diplomats is killed. The investigation is entrusted to detective Rasek, who finds himself in a very delicate situation. Firstly, he is terribly afraid of the Gate Effect, and therefore the transition from planet to planet is a difficult ordeal for him. And secondly, the main suspect is the detective’s earthly girlfriend, whose innocence he has yet to prove.
