About the book: 2011 / The book by the American researcher D. Holloway is dedicated to the history of the atomic project in the USSR. It is interesting that in his anti-Soviet book, the author nevertheless recognizes the need to implement this project in the Soviet Union: he considers this a forced response to atomic blackmail from the United States. A special place in D. Holloway’s research is given to L. P. Beria. Painting his image with black paint, the author at the same time concludes that Beria’s appointment as head of the atomic project was not Stalin’s whim, but was evidence of the extreme importance of the project for the Soviet government. Beria headed the Special Committee on the Atomic Bomb, provided full support to scientists, and supervised the work of the relevant industrial enterprises. D. Holloway’s book is based on a large number of documents and authoritative evidence previously unknown to the Russian reader.
