About the book: 1958 / In the book by prof. G.V. Platonova “Darwinism and Religion” says that for many centuries the mystery of the appearance on Earth of various species of animals and plants, their amazing adaptability to the environment, was skillfully used by the church and its minions to “prove” the existence of God. To give it a completely scientific, based on numerous facts, the solution was achieved only by the great English naturalist Charles Darwin (1809–1882). With his theory, Darwin dealt a huge blow to religion. Therefore, his theory was met with embitterment by churchmen of all countries and religions. But, breaking down all the obstacles placed in its path, Darwinism is winning over more and more masses of people. When reading the books in the series, it should be taken into account that the restoration of genetics (referred to in the text as “Weismannism-Mendelism-Morganism”) as a science took place in the USSR in the second half of the 60s. — Grinya
