About the book: 1989 / The publication is the first translation from Pali into Russian of the outstanding work of Hindu-Buddhist literature "Milindapanha" ("Questions of Milinda"), the only one in its a kind of text in which the meeting of the Greek and Indian cultural worlds was reflected in a highly literary form. (Milinda is the real-life Indo-Greek king Menander.) The text was created in the first centuries of our era. The translation is accompanied by a research article and extensive scholarly commentary. "Milinda's Questions" is part of the Khuddaka Nikaya section of the Pali canon, dealing with various topics attributed to the Buddha and his main disciples. The book is a dialogue between King Milinda and Saint Nagasena.
