About the book: 2019 / The monograph reconstructs the events, phenomena and processes that took place in the Perm province during the Civil War. The sources for writing the monograph were numerous archival documents that had not previously been used by historians. The evasion of Perm peasants from serving in the Red Army and their desertion from its military units is analyzed as a complex socio-political, ideological and moral phenomenon, the emergence and development of which occurred under the influence of a whole complex of interrelated economic, social, political, military, ideological and moral factors. To combat desertion, the Bolsheviks created a central and provincial party-state mechanism that implemented a set of preventive and punitive measures, applied depending on the situation. The regional features of the Perm province are revealed both in the development of desertion and banditry, and in the experience of applying measures to combat them. Events, phenomena and processes on the deserter front are considered as an acute conflict between the Bolshevik statehood and the peasant masses, which was inevitable under the conditions of the Civil War. The book is intended for historians, social scientists and anyone interested in the history of Russia in the 20th century. The publishing layout is saved in PDF A4 format.
