About the book: 2003 / Publisher's abstract: During the Second World War, the British fleet had to carry out a great variety of different operations. One of the most important battles for Britain were convoy battles. While escorting one of the polar convoys - JW-51B - British sailors won one of the most brilliant victories in the history of the British fleet. The results of the New Year's battle turned out to be fantastic: four weak destroyers managed to protect a convoy attacked by a battleship, a heavy cruiser and six much stronger destroyers.
