About the book: 1972 / Most of the legacy of Yu. Neledinsky-Meletsky is “light”, epicurean or anacreontic lyrics, poetic letters, madrigals, album trifles written in case. He also owns translated poems, including fables from La Fontaine - very successful examples of the genre, stylistically close to Dmitriev’s fables. He often wrote on given topics, composing choruses and Polish songs for court holidays and sometimes being burdened by such tasks. He turned to “serious” odic genres and philosophical reasoning only in rare cases. In the minds of subsequent generations, Yu. Neledinsky-Meletsky remained primarily as the author of songs and romances, which played a significant role in the history of the development of this genre. Many of his songs (“I’ll go out to the river”, “Oh, I feel sick”) have become textbook works. The simplicity and deep sincerity of the poet’s songs allowed V. G. Belinsky to say that in his work “sometimes the feeling and sparkles of talent were visible through the blush of sentimentality».
