About the book: 2010 / Poetess Irina Bem (1916-1981), daughter of the literary critic and philosopher A.L. Bem, has been in exile since 1919: at first in Belgrade, then in Warsaw and from 1922 - in Prague. She was a member of the Prague “Skete of Poets,” which was led by her father. In 1943, her only collection of poetry, “Orpheus,” was published in Prague using a non-typographic method. After the death of her father, she moved to Eastern Bohemia and taught French and Latin. This publication consists of poems and translations from the author’s collection “Poems from different years. Prague 1936-1969" (typescript). More than half of them are published for the first time. The book also includes letters from L. Teskova, V. Morkovin, E. Kist to I. Bem.
