About the book: 1990 / American novel with elements of autobiography. Written in 1979 by Gustav Hasford (1947–1993), a US Marine veteran, from his memories of the Vietnam War. Filmed in 1987 by Stanley Kubrick and Michael Herr under the title Full Metal Jacket. In 1990, a continuation of the novel was published - a sequel, The Phantom Blooper, about a “traitor” with an M79 grenade launcher. A third part (a trilogy) was also planned, but the author died shortly after the completion of the second.
