About the book: 1977 / This collection of Soviet playwright Alexander Simukov includes the best plays he created during his long career. Having started his dramatic career back in the thirties, A. Simukov is still active today. Performing in various stage genres, the playwright still most of all loves cheerful everyday comedy. In 1936, his first comedy “Wedding” appeared. Written based on living impressions, this play reflected the changes that had happened by that time in the economy of the Soviet village, in the psychology of collective farmers, and in family relationships. The collection also included other plays, different in genre: “Sparrow Hills”, “ Anything can happen”, “The apartment is on fire”... Reflecting various aspects of our reality, these plays are united by one common feature - they are all imbued with faith in the Soviet man.
