About the book: year / Tess Gerritsen was born and raised in San Diego, California, in the family of a Chinese restaurant owner. Tess may have inherited her literary abilities from her maternal great-grandfather, who was a famous Chinese poet. In her youth, the future writer was interested in natural sciences, especially biology, so when the moment came to choose a profession, Tess did not hesitate for long. Inspired by romantic short stories, which she loved to read in her free time from medical practice, Gerritsen chose the genre of romantic thriller for her first novels. After two unpublished "test" works, Call After Midnight was acquired by Harlequin Intrigue in 1986 and published a year later. Eight more romantic thrillers followed, released by both Harlequin Intrigue and Harper Paperbacks. In 1996, Gerritsen published her first medical thriller novel, Harvest, which was inspired by a conversation the author had with a retired homicide detective who had recently visited Russia. The conversation concerned the kidnappings of street children on the streets of Moscow, as well as assumptions by the local police that the children could be transported abroad as organ donors. The novel brought the writer not only stunning success, but also sharp criticism from her colleagues, in particular, one of the associations of transplant doctors demanded not only changes to the text, but also appealed to the film company Paramount Pictures, which acquired the rights to the film adaptation, not to film film based on the novel. Harvest was Gerritsen's first novel to be published in hardcover and reached number thirteen on the New York Times bestseller list. Immediately after Harvest, three more medical thrillers followed: Rabies (Life Support, 1997), Fever (Bloodstream, 1998) and Chimera (Gravity, 1999), which also acquired bestseller status. In 2001, Gerritsen's first detective thriller, The Surgeon, was released, introducing readers to homicide detective Jane Rizzoli. Although Rizzoli is only a minor character in The Surgeon, she is the focus of the series, which by 2010 totaled eight novels. Among other things, Gerritsen worked on several scripts - the television film Adrift (1993) under the pseudonym Terry Gerritsen, as well as the television series Rizzoli & Isles based on her books. The first season of Rizzoli & Isles premiered on July 12, 2010 on TNT. In the 6th episode of the 7th season, the writer appears in the series as herself, a detective writer on the estate of Tess. Tess Gerritsen is the winner of the literary awards “The Nero Award” (for the novel “Suicide Squad”) and “The Rita Award” (for the novel “The Surgeon”). Tess Gerritsen currently lives with her family in the picturesque town of Camden in Maine and is fully focused on writing books and raising sons. The innocent hobbies of the author of chilling medical thrillers include gardening and playing the violin. Tess Gerritsen's books have been translated into 37 languages, and more than 20 million copies have already been sold worldwide. Contents:Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles:1. Freaks (Translation: Rovus)2.
