About the book: 1970 / This Collected Works and Letters of Saltykov-Shchedrin, in which the experience and materials of the previous edition are critically used, carried out taking into account the latest achievements of Soviet Shchedrin studies. The collection is the most complete of all existing ones and includes all currently known works of the writer, both completed and unfinished. The ninth volume of this edition includes literary critical and journalistic articles and reviews of Saltykov from Otechestvennye Zapiski, which were not included by him in separate editions and remaining in first-print publications. Almost all materials refer to the period 1868–1871, when the magazine had a bibliographic department “New Books”, which ceased to exist with the end of 1871 and was resumed in 1878. http://ruslit.traumlibrary.net
