  • MediaDB / «Russia and war. About “national pride” and the benefits of defeats” Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin (Ulyanov): download fb2, read online

About the book: 2022 / “In order to autocratically dominate within the country, tsarism must continuously win victories. In the eyes of the vulgar-patriotic public, the successive conquests, power and external splendor of tsarism more than outweigh all its sins, all despotism, all injustices and arbitrariness; chauvinistic boasting more than rewards all kicks,” wrote Friedrich Engels. Marx and Engels assessed the foreign policy of tsarism in the 18th-19th centuries from class positions and came to the conclusion that each of its victories, while strengthening power, only intensified the oppression of the people. A similar assessment was given by V.I. Lenin, speaking about Russia's participation in the First World War. He believed that “national pride”, turning into militant chauvinism, serves the benefit of the existing regime, and defeat in the war, on the contrary, can lead to the fall of tsarism. The book presents the works of Marx, Engels and Lenin on this topic. In PDF format A4 saved publishing layout of the book.
