About the book: 1961 / This story was included in the cycle "Moscow holes and slums", which appeared for the first time as part of a collection under the same name, published by Voronov together with A. I. Levitov in 1866. The cycle consisted of the following works by Voronov: “Through Fire, Water and Copper Pipes”, “Grachovka”, “Hell”, “Silence” and “Arbuzov Fortress”. They comprehensively depicted the life and customs of various Moscow brothels and flophouses. Voronov-Levitov’s book was a success and went through two editions in a row.
