About the book: year / Martynov G.S. began writing in the summer of 1951. His first publication, the story “220 Days on a Starship” (1955), the plot of which is the space race of the USSR and the USA and the first Martian expedition, was included in the novel “Starfarers” (1960), as well as the story “Sister of the Earth” ( 1959), where the same heroes fly to Venus and come into contact with the primitive civilization of its inhabitants. The first story, originally titled “The World of Decaying Life,” was still heavily influenced by the clichés of the Cold War and modern “anti-imperialist” and spy literature. However, a number of unconventional plot solutions and a solid scientific and technical background distinguished the story from the line of fairly typical works on space themes of those years. Since 1956, Martynov became a professional writer. Member of the USSR Writers' Union (one of the recommenders is L. Borisov). Martynov entered SF almost simultaneously with I. Efremov, with whom he has in common both the range of topics and his approach to depicting people of the future and their psychology. Martynov's great focus on adventure and children's audiences did not allow critics to consider him on a par with the master. Time has put everything in its place. Martynov's books remain a part of the SF era of the Thaw, with advantages and disadvantages, to one degree or another, characteristic of other works of this period. Contents: 1.
