About the book: year / The textbook combines art history and technical approaches to the problems of cinematography. The book discusses issues of Gestalt psychology, color science, color, exposure metering and lighting. The psychological problem of the relationship between the visible and the known in the visual arts is explored. Valentin Nikolaevich Zheleznyakov is a cinematographer, laureate of the USSR State Prize, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, member of the Board of the Cinematographers Guild of the Union of Cinematographers, professor. He has directed more than thirty films, including “Operation Trust” (dir. S. Kolosov), “The Fourth” (dir. A. Stolper), “Children of Vanyushin” (dir. E. Tashkov), “The Legend of Till Eulenspiegel” , "Tehran-43", "Shore", (dir. A. Alov, V. Naumov), etc. Nine films received prizes at international and Russian film and television festivals for their visual solutions. Since 1982, V.N. Zheleznyakov has been teaching at VGIK. Recommended by the State Committee for Cinematography of Russia as a teaching aid for students of higher education institutions of cinematography.
