About the book: 2016 / The book includes scientific and documentary research prepared on the basis of documents from the State Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine and other archives telling about operations Soviet intelligence services in the religious sphere of Ukraine in the 1920–1960s. Documents from the OGPU-NKVD-KGB, which became the main instrument of the policy of state atheism and persecution for faith, contain unique information about the state of the confessional environment in Ukraine, while simultaneously revealing the cynical mechanism of agent-operational work and repression against Orthodoxy and other religious movements. A separate section of the book tells about the tragic fates of prominent figures of the Orthodox Church who became victims of theomachism and lawlessness. In the year of the 70th anniversary of the Lviv Church Council and the liquidation of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the author covers in detail the role of the special services in these dramatic processes.
