About the book: year / Vandenberg began his career as an author of popular science literature in 1973. He took a year off and went to Egypt to research the so-called “curse of the pharaoh.” In the same year, he published his first book, “The Curse of the Pharaohs,” about the mysterious deaths of thirty archaeologists, with which he paved his way to the heights of fame as “one of the most successful writers in Germany.” Popular science historical works “Nefertiti”/Nofretete (1975) and “Nefertiti, Akhenaten and their era”/Nofretete, Echnaton und ihre Zeit (1976) were published. They were followed in 1977 by the no less successful "Ramesses", which is a biography of the great Egyptian pharaoh from the point of view of a researcher of antiquity. In the 80s, Nero was published. Emperor and God, Artist and Jester" (1981) and "Caesar and Cleopatra" (1986). His first novel, “The Pompeians,” was published in 1986, the impetus for its creation was a trip to Pompeii with a visit to the Baths of Stabian with their “plaster corpses.” Vandenberg achieved his greatest success in this field with the novels “The Sistine Conspiracy (secret conspiracy)/Sistine Oath”/Sixtinische Verschw?rung (1988) and “The Fifth Gospel”/Das F?nfte Evangelium (1993). Today, Philip Vandenberg has 30 works in his arsenal, which at one time became bestsellers. The circulation of his books as of 2006 is 21 million copies.
