"All the stories in this collection, except the first, fall between the trilogies about Camber and Deryni, and serve to restoration of chronology. The overall narrative was clearly missing some episodes necessary for the plot and for its further development in the future novel. Three stories were written specifically for this collection and have never previously appeared in print. Another one was out of print for some time, and the rest were not widely distributed. Regarding the novels, they are all canonical - that is, they are completely consistent with the plots. Most are even based on episodes or characters that are mentioned in the novels.
