Understanding the Universe as the embodiment of harmony and unity, opposite to chaos, the Indo-Europeans believed that this order is necessarily governed by a single law that moves the entire universe, and with it the gods and people. It is extremely difficult for modern people to imagine this comprehensive pagan principle. The great spiritual impulse was so grandiose that the light of truth shone for many centuries and even continued its influence after the collapse of Indo-European unity, when individual peoples of the great linguistic family settled over a good half of Eurasia.
