About the book: 1951 / Uzbek writer Muhammad Sharif Gulkhani, lived at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries in the Kokand Khanate. The literary heritage of Gulkhani that has come down to us is very small in volume: it consists of only one, thematically complete, prose work, “Stories about an Owl” (“Sayings”) and several poems. However, in terms of its content and artistic merits, the writer’s work occupies an exceptional place in Uzbek pre-revolutionary literature and deserves the deepest attention and study.
