About the book: 2011 / The interwar period of the work of Lev Gomolitsky (1903–1988), who in the last decades of his life gained fame as a Polish writer and literary critic-Russianist, remained practically unknown. This publication, based on archival materials discovered in Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, the USA and Israel, reveals a facet of the writer’s appearance that had previously remained in the shadows - a large set of his works created in the 1920s and 30s in Volyn and Warsaw, when he was a Russian poet and became a central figure in emigrant literary life. The second volume, along with poems scattered in periodicals and remaining in manuscript, as well as variants of texts placed in the first volume, includes valuable poetic documents: an extensive half-finished autobiographical novel in verse “Covid” and a book of translations prepared by the poet under the German occupation (done by original size – syllabic verse) “Crimean Sonnets” by Adam Mickiewicz. In the appendix to the poetic part there is a collection, reprinted from the only surviving copy, “Poems by Lev Nikolaevich Gomolitsky” (Ostrog, 1918) - the literary debut of a fifteen-year-old teenager. The book also contains correspondence between L. Gomolitsky and A.L. Bem, V.F. Bulgakov, A.M. Remizov, Dovid Knut and others.
