About the book: year / Chicago, 1929. Two jazz musicians, Joe and Jerry, turn out to be unnecessary witnesses for the leader of the Chicago mafia gang, Colombo. To avoid death at the hands of gangsters, they try to get a job in a touring orchestra, but only girls are accepted there. The guys are forced to dress in women's clothes and pretend to be Josephine and Daphne. The rock star of jazz, singer Dushechka (Sugar Cane, English: Sugar Kane) performs with the orchestra. Joe falls in love with a girl and, appearing before her either in the form of a young millionaire “Junior” or as a “girlfriend,” tries to persuade her to reciprocate. At the same time, millionaire Osgood Fielding falls in love with Daphne, that is, Jerry, mistaking him for a woman. While solving their love problems, the heroes do not notice how they find themselves very close to their enemy Columbo in the midst of gangster showdowns.
