About the book: year / This book is a look at the history of rock music by a man who has gone through a long and difficult path as a performer, composer, leader of his ensemble, starting from the 50s to the present day. The author of the book knows what he is writing about from personal experience, since he has played and written music in a wide variety of styles. Starting with traditional jazz and moving on to its avant-garde forms, Alexey Kozlov came up with the idea of ​​​​creating a jazz-rock ensemble "Arsenal" in the early 70s. For more than twenty years, the ensemble's music changed, absorbing everything new that arose in world practice, from rock -opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" to the new wave, breakdancing, and funky fusion. In domestic practice, starting from the early perestroika period, books on the topic of rock music began to appear in print, but they were all dedicated to Soviet rock and music. pop groups. In Soviet times, we only published individual publications about Western rock music, but not for the purpose of conveying objective information, but from the standpoint of ideological criticism. An analysis of Western publications on this topic shows that they prefer to publish encyclopedias or dictionaries containing. only factual information, that is, names of performers, names of groups, dates, bibliography. Commercial publishing usually tries to avoid publishing works with an analytical approach when it is necessary to assimilate a certain conceptual apparatus. In this work, the author offers the reader in an accessible form a professional view of various irregularities in modern music that are directly or indirectly related to rock culture. Everything that has happened with popular music over the past half century is considered here in inextricable connection with social processes and youth movements, subjected to a kind of sociocultural analysis. In our country, this is the first serious publication of this type, designed both for specialists and for readers of a wider range.
