Rumors about the murder spread throughout the city. To calm public opinion, an investigation begins, which is entrusted to the prosecutor's office investigator Mikhail Grechka. Versions are multiplying, but there is nothing to grab hold of. Based on numerous conversations with friends and relatives of the deputy, Mikhail recreates his entire life and finally finds the hidden spring of the tragic events.
