MediaDB / «Everyday life of the Soviet peasantry during the period of late Stalinism. 1945–1953.” Oleg Khasyanov: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2018 / The monograph explores a multidimensional picture of everyday life in a post-war Volga collective farm village: demographic processes, labor activity, interaction with authorities, forms of leisure, attitudes towards religion, etc. d. The author managed to maintain a balance between attention to the “incident”, a single event of everyday life, and generalizing conceptual conclusions about the main directions of the evolution of post-war rural society. Based on data on the demographic situation in the post-war collective farm village of the Kuibyshev and Ulyanovsk regions, the author systematically examined a wide range of social and demographic consequences of the Great Patriotic War. Characteristic features of post-war peasant life were pressure in the religious sphere, lack of social infrastructure, difficult material and living conditions, and even direct physical and moral violence from officials. Without denying the nature of Stalinism as total violence against society, the author focuses on the strategy of survival of the rural population, the practices of adaptation and passive resistance used by both ordinary collective farmers and the management of collective farms. The book is intended for researchers, students and anyone interested in social history. PDF A4 format saved publishing layout.
