About the book: 2017 / Fashion is not only the history of costume, seasonal trends or the evolution of styles. It is also a phenomenon that requires a special descriptive language. This language is made up of the “vocabulary” of glossy magazines and press releases, the professional vocabulary of fashion “manufacturers,” as well as images found in ancient myths and ancient fairy tales. These images are almost always surrounded by mystery. What is the dictatorship of glamor, what do a book of recipes, a glossy magazine and a sacrifice have in common, between a catwalk show and a sacred ritual, why do spinners, tailors and shoemakers in fairy tales look like sorcerers and magicians? An attempt to answer these questions is in the book “Poetics of Fashion” by journalist, culturologist, candidate of philosophical sciences Inna Osinovskaya.
