About the book: 2023 / Memoirs of a former emigrant who returned to his homeland in 1947. Boris Alexandrovsky’s youth came at a difficult time: the First World War, revolution, Civil War... Fate took sharp turns - a graduate of the medical faculty of Moscow University, instead of scientific work, was drafted to the front of the First World War, then he was drafted as a military doctor in the Red Army, then, being captured, he went over to the Whites... After the defeat of the White Army - “evacuation” with Wrangel’s units by sea to Turkey and the usual bitter path of an emigrant who had lost his homeland... Turkish Gallipoli, where war refugees camped, Bulgaria and, finally, France... For many years, Alexandrovsky’s life was connected with the emigrant “Russian Paris”, life, morals and to whose social life a significant part of his memoirs is devoted. Alexandrovsky touched upon a variety of topics - the activities of Russian politicians, the Orthodox Church abroad, Russian musicians, artists and writers who found themselves in exile, Russian educational institutions opened in Paris and other cities of the “Russian Diaspora”... On the pages of the book you can find famous names - Rachmaninov , Chaliapin, Benois, Korovin, Bilibin, Kuprin and many other “masters of thought”, brought by fate into exile. The Second World War became a turning point in the mood of many Russian people abroad. Aleksandrovsky achieved his return to Russia in 1947 and considered this real happiness.
