About the book: year / Vladimir Eshkilev The Nest A novel in two parts. The second of the "Farengo" series The first novel of the series - "Shadow of the Predecessor" (Nurse of the Gods) - talks about the attack of aggressive alien creatures (xenomorphs), known as "gyrgs", on planets colonized by humanity. Gyrgs turned out to be artificially bred creatures that consist of two organisms in symbiosis. One of them - conventionally called the Norns - is capable of creating interdimensional portals through which organisms of the second type penetrate into the affected worlds - armored fast predators, born on an unknown planet by a huge womb capable of producing billions of Gyrgov warriors. The investigation initiated by the government of the Star Empire did not give a clear answer to the question: who exactly uses the Gyrgov as a biological weapon against the human race? At first, the ancient civilization of reptilians from the planet Gorma and terrorist groups that are trying to destabilize the imperial administration were under suspicion. In the end, it turns out that behind the terrorists there is an unknown force that possesses the knowledge and technology of the ancient civilizations that inhabited the Galaxy millions of years ago, during the era of the First Cycle of intelligent races. The ultimate goal of this force is unknown, but the Empire's political enemies consider it an ally. They organized a series of rebellions and riots, which ultimately provoked the fall of the ruling dynasty and the rise of military leaders to power. The new owners of the Empire are aware of the threats and are ready for decisive action. To search for the galactic nest of the Gyrgs, the new imperial government and its allied Knowers (priestesses-guardians of the knowledge of humanoid races from the planet Pythia) organize an expedition to the distant planets of the Dark Aggregate in the constellation Orion. Xenobiologist Gwen Wei and technoarchaeologist Alexander Volsk were appointed to manage the researchers. Both realize that this choice is not accidental. After all, they are the ones who are involved in the secrets of the planet Farengo, where the Labyrinth is located, built by the ancient race of the Creeping Fathers. The Gorma reptilians, who operate with the knowledge of the civilizations of the First Cycle, promised the imperial government to help identify the nest. At the same time, the search begins for promising means of defense against the horde of Gyrgs, which can destroy life in the Galaxy.
