Wrangel, the father of the art historian HH Wrangel and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the South of Russia P.N. Wrangel. His memoirs are very relevant: a well-known entrepreneur of his time, he describes how (like modern times) the state in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries in every possible way fettered the initiative of its subjects, stifling their initiatives with instructions and bureaucratic tutelage. Readers are presented with various spheres of Russian life: capitals and provinces, the imperial court and the peasantry.
