MediaDB / «The development of shamanism in Russian literature of the late 18th century: A.N. Radishchev vs. Catherine II" by Susie Frank: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2006 / In one of his many letters from Siberian exile, Radishchev, addressing A.R. Vorontsov, who interceded for him (June 1794), mentions a religious rite of the Tungus, “called shamanism,” which he allegedly observed and described. But instead of sending Vorontsov a detailed description, he only mentions shamanism in one sentence. At first glance, it may seem that this is a simple note in the margins, meager in content. In fact, this short sentence from Radishchev is worthy of a more detailed comment.
