For the first time, the degree of infiltration of security officers into the internal life of the press of the Russian diaspora is documented. This allows the author to put forward a new interpretation of a number of episodes that caused a sensation at one time, such as, for example, V.V. Shulgin’s secret trip to Soviet Russia in the winter of 1925–1926. or the exposure of Soviet provocation by the secret employee of the GPU Opperput in 1927.
