About the book: 2005 / The author of the book is the son of an American diplomat, translator, participant in the Second World War, a career high-ranking CIA officer, for 25 years he was a resident of border in many countries. In the last years of his career, having received a master's degree in psychology, he studied personal files and talked with many spy defectors from the USSR who worked after the war in the 1950s and 1960s for US and British intelligence: O. Penkovsky, P. Popov, Yu. Nosenko and other secret employees not named in this book. The purpose of Hart's research is to study the psychology of betrayal, identify the reasons that forced certain Soviet GRU employees to betray their homeland, and also develop recommendations for CIA employees on recruiting similar people in the future. The book contains interesting conclusions of a professional American intelligence officer about the activities of US intelligence and counterintelligence against Russia during the period of united efforts of many countries to prevent acts of global terrorism.
