About the book: 1992 / Kobo Abe’s novel The Burnt Map (1967) was published simultaneously in Japan, the United States and the Soviet Union. Readers in such different countries were equally close to the main themes in the work of the Japanese writer: human defenselessness before society, hostility, fear and loneliness.
