About the book: 2002 / In July 1944, ships of the Baltic Fleet sank the German medium submarine VIIC series “U 250” in the north-eastern part of the Gulf of Finland ( standard displacement 620 tons) and in the same year she was raised from the bottom of the Navy ACC. At the end of 1944, the USSR Navy received detailed technical materials on its design. This boat had tactical and technical elements similar to Project 608-1 submarines. In this regard, People's Commissar of the Navy, Admiral of the Fleet N.G. Kuznetsov made the decision: “In 1945, based on the type of the German submarine “U 250”, design a submarine of medium displacement and submit it to me for consideration. Pending the development of the specified project, work at TsKB-18 NKSP on project 608 should be stopped” (RGAE, F.297, op.2., d.29, l.81). After familiarizing himself with the materials on captured submarines (VIIC, XXI, XXIII series, etc.) at the beginning of January 1946, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, on the recommendation of the Main Directorate of Shipbuilding of the Navy, approved the technical specifications for the medium submarine of the project 613.
