About the book: 1990 / “Immense cedars spread out their heavy crowns spaciously, as if they were holding the dormant weight of time...” Into the vastness of the taiga , we dive into the past of the northern region from the first pages of this book. Everything here seems pristine - nature, the struggle for existence, and love. “And for the rest of his life, for his whole long life, a piercing, unquenchable surprise at the woman who protected him with a hot body and a scorching mouth, defended him from death, entered and remained in Myron. She hugged him tenderly and tightly, hugged him in a wave from head to toe, she seemed to pour herself into Miron, poured solemnly and earnestly...” A novel-story - this is how its authors, Tyumen writer Gennady Sazonov and Mansi storyteller Anna Konkova, defined the genre of the book. Tracing the fates of four generations of inhabitants of the taiga Mansi village, the authors show how closely the peculiarities of the worldview and psychology of the heroes are connected with the poetic world of folk legends and beliefs, where “fiction and miracle, truth and magic were intricately, inextricably intertwined.” At the center of the work is the history of a hunting family Paintings from the beginning of the 19th century to its last decade. The authors wanted to continue the story; a second book of the novel was planned, but the death of the writer Gennady Sazonov (1934–1988) interrupted the work begun. However, the novel is being republished (first edition: Sverdlovsk, 1982) in expanded form - a new chapter has appeared, a number of episodes have been clarified. On the binding is a fragment of one of the paintings by the artist G. S. Raishev.
