About the book: 2000 / The jungle was noisily torn apart by a fierce downpour. The earth, foaming, spat out shoots and roots of young trees. The frenzied wind threw streams of rain at dizzying angles, leaving no chance to hide from the moisture under the densest leafy canopy. Streams of dirty water, collecting in small rivers, carried heaps of garbage to sloping places and created real rubble there from branches, leaves, scraps of vines and grass. Bumping against stones and thick roots, the water swirled into seething whirlpools, bringing the corpses of small rodents, chicks and insects to the surface. When there were gusts, the howl of the wind turned into a chilling whistle, drowning out all other sounds. In moments of calm, the splashing and gurgling of rain dominated. From time to time, the frightened cries of animals and birds, knocked down by the rain from seemingly reliable branches into the rapidly flowing mud, broke through this maddening music. Tired of fighting, the old trees lost huge branches, which, falling, buried the fragile young growth under them and crippled the branches of their neighbors. Not allowing themselves even a second's respite, the underbelly of the clouds was torn by white cracks of lightning. Greedily stretching towards the tallest trees, the discharges crushed their tops into dust. Rolls of thunder forced you to instinctively duck, keeping up with the flashes for more than a second.
