About the book: 2017 / “Continuation War” (jatkosota) - this is how in Finland they call the 2nd Soviet-Finnish war of 1941–1944, which claimed the lives of more than 100 thousands of Red Army soldiers and made the blockade of Leningrad possible, but in our country it still remains an “unknown”, “lost”, “forgotten” war. The Sovinformburo did not inform the Soviet people either about its beginning on June 25, 1941, when Stalin’s aircraft launched a massive attack on Finnish targets, which was the reason for the outbreak of the war, or about its end three long bloody years later. But this book broke the conspiracy of silence. This study provides a unique opportunity to test Viktor Suvorov’s hypothesis in practice - after all, on June 25, 1941, the Red Army delivered the “first blow” to the Finns in the most favorable conditions for itself: mobilized troops in advance began hostilities at the moment they chose, according to the plans of their own command, against an enemy significantly inferior in technical equipment. What did this test show? What were the results of the Red Army's "pre-emptive strike"? Having analyzed the course of hostilities on the Finnish front, this book answers the main question of Soviet history: “What if in the summer of ’41 Stalin had been able to get ahead of Hitler?»
