About the book: 2006 / Prominent figure of Menshevism F.I. Dan (Gurvich, 1871–1947) devoted his life to the struggle first with the tsarist, and then with the Bolshevik modes. As one of the leaders of the Union of Struggle for the Liberation of the Working Class, he resolutely did not accept the strategies and tactics of the Bolsheviks and advocated the separation of Bolshevism from the labor movement. For sharp criticism of the Soviet regime in 1920, Dan was arrested and a year later deported abroad. Dan's book is dedicated to the last years of his stay in Russia, his arrests and imprisonment. It describes not only ideological differences with the Bolsheviks, but also the prison ordeals of powerless prisoners awaiting execution and the habits of their revolutionary executioners. The book is published for the first time in the author’s homeland.
